Attack of the Cute

Daddy Steve:  Lately I've been trying to use up some of my vacation time at work before it expires.  I've been taking an occasional Friday or Monday off with the idea of catching up on household tasks: cleaning, organizing, laundry, repair projects...you know, fun stuff.

At least, that was the original plan.  The boys, of course, had other ideas.  They couldn't understand why I would want to do all of those 'boring things' when I could pay attention to them.  I must admit that they can be quite persuasive...

Ravi: Daddy Steve, won't you please join us for tea?
Daddy Steve: Well, I was going to clean the bathroom.

Patrick: Oh pleeeeeeeeeaaaaase?
Daddy Steve: Maybe just one cup.

When Patrick looks at me with his gooey butterscotch eyes, how can I, or anyone, possibly refuse?

Likewise when Sasha asks me to read him a story.  Sasha and I have been together for over 45 years...he basically has me wrapped around his little finger.

Sasha: But Daddy, wouldn't you rather read us a story?  You can wash the kitchen floor any time.
Daddy Steve: Yes, that's true.

Miguel: And after that, you can read us this one!

There's always a sense of urgency in Tyler's and Mikko's plans.

Tyler: Daddy Steve, come outside and help us build a snow fort!
Daddy Steve: Perhaps in a little bit, boys.

Mikko: But we have to do it now!  If we wait, all the snow will melt!

And what kind of parent would I be if I didn't encourage my kids' musical development?

Bowie: What's more important, the laundry or listening to the new song Sebastian and I wrote?
Sebastian: Yeah!

Emile explains it to me as only he can.

Emile: Papa, you really must cultivate a joie de vivre!

Later that evening...

Daddy John: So what did you do today?
Daddy Steve: Well...I, uh, played with the boys, and, uh...ummmm, oh dear...

Lol, sound just like here in the Sasha Village ! All those plans for boring housework etc fall by the wayside when a pair of Gregor or Sasha eyes catch yours!

And when the plans all seem to revolve around things they need.. well .. I'll say no more!! :)

Sounds like the perfect way to spend a day to me! I know my lot have been complaining that I haven't been able to spend enough time with them. Will hopefully be able to remedy that soon...

Housework is much overrated, and time passes so quickly with children - I think you did right.
Who can resist those eyes?
