Happy Birthday, Daddy Steve!

John: As soon as Steve was out of the house Monday morning (out having coffee with his parents), I got the boys up and organized.

Happy Birthday, Daddy Steve!  We love you!

Time to open presents!

Steve's Red Sports Car

Steve: It gives me great pleasure to introduce Patrick, the newest resident of Gregoropolis.  He was a bit of a splurge; I turn 50 today, so he was a 'Happy Birthday to me' present.  Surviving for fifty years is no small feat and I thought it merited something significant.  Some guys deal with middle age by getting themselves a red sports car; I got myself a red-headed Gregor.  I think Patrick is a beautiful doll and I'm crazy about him.  I'm still learning about is personality, but so far I can tell you he's a very serious and studious boy.  He wants to learn about everything and says that he's going to be a 'genius' when he grows up.  He's also just a tiny bit impatient.

Wearing the outfit he arrived in.  I wasn't about to tell him that his 'shirt' is actually a girl's backwards blouse.

Just look at that handsome face!

A change of clothes after a long trip always feels good.

Patrick:  Hello everyone; it's awfully nice to meet you!  I'd love to stay an chat, but there's so much to do--books to read, things to learn.  Playing, running, exploring!   Come along, Daddy, what are we waiting for?

Halloween 2016, Part 2

Pete Dakota:  Hi, BR!  Look what I've got!  Daddy John found us some jack o'lantern buckets for trick-or-treating!  I bet we get lots of candy!  Have you thought about our costumes?
Benjamin Roy:  Hi, Pete.  Those buckets are pretty nice.  I've had lots of ideas for costumes!

BR:  One of us could go as Batman
Pete:  I am the night!

BR:  A motorcycle gang member.
Pete:  Oooooooh!

BR:  A baseball player.
Pete:  We're gonna win Twins!

BR:  There's Superman.
Pete:  Up, up, and away!

BR:  Or a couple of hipster dudes.
Pete:  Ummmmm

Better Late Than Never

Daddy Steve:   The Morning Glory vine has just now decided to bloom.  Mikko (who still refuses to wear long pants) and Emile went to check it out.

Emile: Très belle!  Eet smells so lovely.

Sweets For My Sweets

Anthony: Daddy John decided we had been good boys all week, so for a special weekend treat he brought home candy fruit slices!  There were enough slices for everybody, so we each got one.

Anthony: Don't they look yummy?

The boys all sitting nicely at the table, with their napkins and drinks

Anthony reminds everyone to use their napkins and wait until everyone is seated before choosing a candy fruit slice.

Miguel:  Oh boy!  ¡Me gustan los dulces!

Anthony: This candy is delicious.  I've got lemon.  What flavors have you guys got?

Kaveh:  This is green!  I mean, lime!

Miguel:  No sé.  I think it might be...blue raspberry?

Sasha:  This is definitely orange.  My new favorite!

Anthony:  Daddy John sure knows how to treat us right.  I think we will be extra careful to be good from now on!  The other boys are out in the backyard running around, working off their candy.  It'll be our turns soon!

Halloween 2016, Part 1

Pete Dakota:  Hi girl, who's a good dog?  Want to play some fetch?
Benjamin Roy:  Peter!  I was looking for you.

Pete Dakota:  Hi, BR.  I'm right here, playing with Annabelle.  Why are you wearing a witch's hat?
Benjamin Roy:  Well, I have something to ask you...I hope you'll say 'yes.'
Pete Dakota:  Ask me what?

Benjamin Roy:  Well, Halloween is coming up very soon and I really like dressing up and going trick-or-treating.  I was wondering if you would like to dress up too and go with me?   The other boys think Halloween is for babies.  But I really want to wear a costume and go!  Will you go with me?

Pete Dakota:  Actually, I'd really like that!  I don't have to wear this hat, though, do I?  What shall we dress up as?  I don't think I have any kind of  costume clothing.

Benjamin Roy:  Maybe you'd like to wear this hat, Annabelle?  Would you girl?
Annabelle:  Woof!

Benjamin Roy:  If we go through our closets, we can find clothes that will work as costumes.  I'm so excited!  I'm sure we can find something.  I'm sure we can!
Pete Dakota:  Let's ask Daddy John for help.  I'll bet he'll help us--he always has good ideas.
Benjamin Roy:  Let's go find him right now.
